Zodiac Symbol

The Glyph

Scorpio zodiac sign symbol (♏) is normally drawn as a curvy “M,” with an upturned arrow on the end of it.

Just like the Virgo sign that looks similar, it’s important to analyze the glyph to understand the meaning of it.

The twirling nature of the symbol with the arrow on the end is also known to represent a snake or serpent.

The snake symbology has a very much positive meaning – it represents the patience and the thoughtful nature that Scorpio hold.

Also, snake’s natural process of shedding its skin once it outgrows it is a powerful metaphor for constant transformations Scorpios apply in different facets of their lives.

Even though passionate Scorpios are thought to be ruled by fire, it is actually a water sign.

Water signs are associated with winter, when the weather is cold and wet.

Water represents emotions, intuition, and sensitivity.

Just like Cancers, Pisces, Scorpios are impacted strongly by water which means they are deeply in touch with their intuition, as well as the emotions of those around them.

Water signs need to be careful in worrying about other people too much – if they delve into other people’s problems too much, they will feel those same emotions, ending with destructive behavior.

Being a water sign it means they’ve got tons of emotional depth, even though it’s not as obvious with Scorpios and with others.

Scorpio is a fixed sign, meaning the water that rules it is also fixed, making them guarded, protecting their hearts with a strong armour.

Scorpios value deep relationships mostly so you can expect honesty, support, and commitment.

But the second they sense superficiality or deceit, they’ll consider that a betrayal.

Zodiac Flower

Geranium is the official zodiac flower for Scorpio.

These flowers are flattered by bold colors and aromatic foliage, with a lot of variations (over 400 variants).

In other words, geranium is a versatile flower just like Scorpio that it represents.

In floriography or language of flowers, geranium is a symbol of happiness and positive emotion.

It represents friendship, good health, longevity, and best wishes, making it a great flower to add to your Scorpio tattoo.

Yellow topaz

The Scorpio birthstone is Topaz, having a positive influence on the life of a Scorpio

This amazing gem comes in many shades but the Yellow Topaz is best for those who share the Scorpio star sign.

The main messages it transmits are empathy and serenity.

It’s said that when a Scorpio wears jewerly with topaz, they are able to let go of and even repel negative energy.

Wearing topaz benefits health and relationships of Scorpios, which makes it a great lucky gem to have during rough patches.

There are many animals associated with the Scorpio star sign, but Scorpions are the main symbol.

Scorpios quiet matches with the lethal Scorpion with its atmosphere of “danger” surrounding them due to their intensity and compulsive desire for seclusion.

A scorpion, like the sign of Scorpio, is amazingly complex and bent on survival.

A scorpion is defensive, cautious, and is intensely aware of its environment.

Just like its peer water sign Cancer, it lays low and stays in the background and when frightened strikes out.

There is an associated ancient Greek myth connected to the great hunter Orion who boasted that there was no animal that he couldn’t defeat.

In on one of his speeches he even threatened to kill all the animals in the world.

So, Gaia, the Goddess of the Earth, sent a giant scorpion to kill Orion. A great battle ensued, Orion was defeated and killed by the scorpion.

Ruling planet

Pluto & Mars

Scorpio is in a rare position of having two ruling planets – Pluto and Mars.

While Scorpio isn’t the only zodiac sign with this privilege — Taurus, Aquarius, and Pisces have more than one planetary ruler — it’s important to acknowledge the undeniable force of Mars and Pluto.

Mars is Scorpio’s ancient ruler and the one closely connected to its typical traits – it is the planet of action, aggression, combat, energy, passion, sex, and war.

Pluto on the other hand is the planet of death in astrology, and it also signifies regeneration, transformation, and everything that’s hidden beneath the surface.

Mars took the role of Scorpio’s planetary ruler before shadowy Pluto was discovered.

Even though it seems these two planets would rule differently over a zodiac sign, these two give Scorpios a unique character that is a perfect hybrid of the aggressive Mars and mysterious Pluto.

Given their unique planetary expressions, Mars governs Scorpio’s relentlessly driven spirit and carnal desires, whereas Pluto takes responsibility for its deeply hidden nature, psychic abilities, and obsessive personality.

Scorpius is among the most distinctive of constellations among the zodiac constellations.

With a little imagination, you can see its stars tracing the shape of a Scorpion.

The brilliant red star Antares lies at the Scorpion’s Heart. The constellation has the shape of the letter J, with the curved bottom of the J representing the Scorpion’s curved Tail.

In a dark sky, you can also see many beautiful deep sky treasures – and the starry band of our home galaxy, the Milky Way – in the same part of the sky as Scorpius.

For evening viewing, July and August are prime-time months for observing this wondrous constellation.
